Short Interval Car Servicing is not a hoax it's good

Everyone of us that owns a car can relate to the way we treated our first ride. We stick to the servicing plan, we spend almost every weekend washing and polishing our car as if it were a bottle with a genie inside. From my experience, servicing is very much like washing your car, if it is dirty you clean it up you don't leave the stain there. The more you use the dirtier the surface gets. That's the logic right?
12 years and 9 cars later I begin to see a trend that newer cars have longer intervals between servicing. Most people stick to the plan like bees to honey or flies to rubbish. What I discovered over those cars I had with longer intervals between servicing is that those cars often have major repairs surfacing after the 70k mark. Not until a friend told me that servicing should be adjust according to the driving character of the driver. The more aggressive one drives, the shorter the interval should be. After applying this logic as I am a heavy footed bugger, I see less major servicing and more time enjoy the car I drive.
What happens when you are a heavy footed driver from traffic light to traffic light is that you place more stress on the engine to get your car up to speed. That stress sometimes translates to leaks, more jerks to the gear box (wearing out the gears). These stresses when detected early can be solved at an early stage if it is not a manufacturer's issue. However, longer intervals between servicing means that the car will carry that stress longer and the issues gets worst.
The same goes in many aspect of one's life. You let some issues slide for too long, you will pay a big price when it comes to haunt you. The cost of waiting is usually much higher than nipping the problem early. Short Regular Servicing Intervals (SRSI) will save you more heartaches.
Cheers. Have a safe ride.
